egg drop challenge

Today we were learning about newton's first law, inertia. we experimented with an egg. all you need is a plastic plate, a egg, and a empty toilet roll. lets example it like this, we are like an object and gravity pulls us down but if there was nothing below us we would just keep going until we hit something. and when we set the plate and egg and toilet roll gravity pulls it all together with the surface as the stabilizer. to set it up first fill the cup just over half way, then put the plastic plate on top, then put the toilet roll on top of the plate standing up and put the egg sideways on top of the toilet roll. make sure not to swing your arm because it will go flying, so stand close to it and put your hand close, then slap the plate but not hard and don't swing.

m&m word record challenge stack

2 weeks ago we were trying to beat the world record m&m stack challenge. we got up to 3 it was really hard. it was like stone stacking. next time i will try not to get frustrated and try more carefully. i found easy to get up to two. it was really amazing seeinng the best person in our class

balloon madness

last week we were learning about action and reaction. we were doing an experiment when we get baking soda and vinegar we put the baking soda in the balloon and the vinegar in the bottle so when we put the balloon on the bottle and pour the baking soda in it makes action and when the balloon blows up that is called a reaction. so when it blows up it is because the reaction is trying to let out carbon dioxide (bad air)

the action and reaction thing is newton's third law

here is a video

i found it hard to figure out the science behind this because i never knew about newton's third law
i observed that when there is action there is a reaction

balloon madness

last week we were learning about isaac newton's third law and when there is action there is an equal or opposite reaction. we taped a balloon to some straw and then put the string through the straw so when we blew it up the action made a reaction. here a some pictures.

try it at home all you need is tape,a straw and a balloon

i found it hard to get it to move at the right speed because each angle has a different reaction and it depends on how much air is in the balloon

i found it easy to get the balloon moving because the less the air the faster because when it has lots of air it using heaps of pressure to slow it down

Persuasive writing 2021

today we were learning about being prepared for a natural disaster and if it is important or not. here is what i think but maybe some people think different.

i found it easy to choose if its important or not because i know that this is what i would do.
it was hard to write this because i had to think of reasons and have evidence which is hard.
next time i will try to describe the work a bit better but here is my mahi i tried my best.

Today we were learning about Molecules - Fatty acids, soap & minerals. it was very easy figuring out the sience because i had done something like this before.

it was hard to make the colours combine so it would be cool but i did it.

next time i will try to make it out of different soaps and milk to see if it changes

lava lamp observations

a week ago we did a observation about lava lamps. when the aspirin is mixed with oil and water it makes a reaction because it is letting out all the carbon dioxide. What Happened... oil stays above the water because the oil is lighter than the water or, more specifically, less dense than water. The oil and water do not mix because of something called “intermolecular polarity.” Molecular polarity basically means that water molecules are attracted to other water molecules. They get along fine, and can loosely bond together (drops.) This is similar to magnets that are attracted to each other. Oil molecules are attracted to other oil molecules, they get along fine as well. But the structures of the two molecules do not allow them to bond together.

When you added the tablet piece, it sank to the bottom and started dissolving and creating a gas. As the gas bubbles rose, they took some of the colored water with them. When the blob of water reached the top, the gas escaped and down went the water.

i found it hard to find all the science behind this observation but i worked hard and found the science behind it.
it was easy to see all of the reactions with the lamp because it worked like one and that was cool
learning about the science is always more interesting then the observation
